The Mechanical Olympics are a crowdsourced version of the Olympic Games, where anyone can perform an Olympic event and everyone votes for gold medal winners. During the Olympic Games, blog viewers vote on YouTube videos of Olympic event performances made by Turkers from Amazon.com's elastic workforce on Mturk.com.
The Mechanical Olympics medalists from the 2010 Games have been paid on mturk.com. Join the mailing list if you would like to be reminded to contribute videos to the 2012 Games.

Mechanical Olympics

Mechanical Olympians are encouraged to create their own interpretations of Olympic performances. Some are funny, abstract, or absurd, while others are mundane, literal translations of a sporting event. Payments are made on mturk.com, without bias toward the style of the video performance. Bonus payments are delivered to winners of each voting poll. The winning performances tend to be funny or clever. If you'd like to contribute, sign up to be a worker on mturk.com (all you need is an Amazon account) and accept a HIT.
